The petition to revoke the $25 tax has generated close to 700 signatures within 48 hours! Thank you League players for standing together as a team and helping spread the word to #SaveNorCalLeagues. Can we hit 1,000? Let’s keep it up!
To make sure we stay on track to get the Board to revoke this tax, it’s important that we continue to remember the facts as false information seems to be circulating:
- Rumor: This fee will only be distributed to private clubs. This is not correct. This fee is supposed to be distributed to “USTA member organization,” which are all organizations that pay a USTA membership. The majority of these organizations are private clubs but some are public facilities.
- Rumor: This fee will be implemented for Adult 18 & Over. This is not correct. A specific timeline has not been announced but it will likely be implemented starting with the Mixed 18 & Over and Adult 55 & Over seasons.
- Rumor: League staff and the Adult League Committee approved this tax. This is not correct. The Board of Directors passed this tax alone without consulting the League staff or the Adult League Committee. In fact, the Adult League Committee unanimously opposed this fee multiple times over the past few years. That’s why it’s important we reach out to the Board of Directors directly and NOT the NorCal League office. Staff had nothing to do with this.
